We are a veteran-owned gun shop in Southern Iowa – originally opened in 1992. We stock a variety of new & used quality firearms, silencers, ammunition, and accessories.
We are a small business in a small town. That means more attention for each individual customer and better product & industry knowledge than you will find in many big-box retailers.
Coates Guns was one of the very first SOT’s in Iowa – for three years before Iowa’s Hearing Protection Act was passed in 2016 – and has the knowledge, inventory, connections, & guidance you need for all of your NFA purchases!

We are equipped with a SilencerShop S.I.D. Kiosk and are able to complete fingerprints, photos, and all Form4 applications conveniently on-site – saving our customers valuable time and unnecessary hassle.

We will also price match any other local competitor!
OTHER SERVICES
Buy a firearm or silencer online or from out of state? No problem! We offer $15 FFL & $75 NFA transfers. Simply let us know that you need a transfer and we will do the rest!
